The rapid growth of the World Wide Web (WWW), a distributed hypermedia system implemented on the Internet, has led to simple and widespread access to vast repositories of information. In contrast to much ongoing WWW work that has focussed on access to structured and unstructured data (text, images etc.) repositories, we analyze the problem of accessing repositories of \computable" information (i.e., algorithms implemented in software). In particular, we develop a system architecture that permits users to transparently execute software on remote servers using data located on other servers. This ability to inter-operate between servers is a distinctive feature of our approach and signiicantly extends the functionality possible with the Common Gateway Interface supported in HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) servers. We describe the current implementation of the architecture and the way in which it used to make a repository of project scheduling algorithms accessible over the Web. Extensions are planned to a repository of time series analysis algorithms. The implemented prototype can be accessed using URL
